Role Model Marriages

I got to be a part of a 50th wedding anniversary party.  It was really inspiring to see how the love of these two people had touched a room full of people young and old.  Jim and Connie have been a part of our family for years and we all adore them.  So they found each other 50 years ago...and my parents joined their lives and started our family 33 years ago. What a blessing as a newly married person to have these amazing examples around me and my husband. CHEERS to love and happily ever after.

Their first official wedding cake.  50 yrs later :)

"Bloomers"

If I may quote Riley Faye Baumann...I have some new "bloomers" in the yard.  I don't even know what type of flowers they all are but I know that I love the variety and color.  This may be my favorite time of year for my garden.

5 Years and counting

5 years ago today on Friday July 13th, Matt and I found ourselves across from each other at The Whisky Bar.   I made attempts at getting his attention but he was a bit "distracted."  So as he walked out of the bar I grabbed him by the arm and asked why he hadn't  said hello to me.  After a conversation that night, a little reminding by text message about our reunion the night before, and a beer at 74th ST Ale house, we had made our way back into each other's lives and quickly into each other's hearts.  We picked up right where we had left off 5 years earlier.  It didn't take long to realize that our souls would be forever joined.  After 5 years our hearts are as full as ever and our friendship is growing stronger everyday.   Thank you Matt for loving me for me, trusting me with your heart, and for making our house a home.  I love you.

My bump is bumpin...

It seems that my belly is the place to be these days.  I feel like there is a party going on in there.  It has become a welcomed distraction at work.  I love feeling him with me all day.  All those months I was hoping to get pregnant, this is what I was dreaming about.  It has to be one of the most special experiences as a new mom.  Feeling his flicks turn into kicks has helped me realize he truly is growing in there...because my expanding waist line hasn't felt like proof enough :)

Nesting...

So everyone said that I would get the urge to clean and organize as I got farther along in my pregnancy.  I thought it was all a bunch of bull.  Well...here we are 3 months from the due date cleaning and taking regular trips to the donation truck.  I feel like I am in the danger zone of thinking we have plenty of time to get everything ready.  I am sure October is going to be here before we know it.  So.. I have become a crazy person.  Even researching the best way to clean my blinds.  I have never used so much bleach cleaner...which Matt is not happy about.  But in the process of ditching unecessary things we are storing in our garage I came across this little gem that I made in 8th grade wood working class.  I am picturing it sitting on a shelf in baby boys room.

Yes I know there is no propeller...matt noticed too.

My green thumb

I had no idea that I would come to love gardening as much as I do.  One of the selling points of our house was the gorgeous garden that I only hoped I could keep up.  I could see all the work that had gone into this cared for assortment of beautiful flowers and wanted to make the previous home owner proud.  Somehow I became the designated weeder, but I can't say I would go back and change that.  I use weeding to silence my mind and now enjoy the time I get to spend in the dirt with all the worms.  I love the idea of instant results, and weeding is just that.  But what I love more are the fresh cut flowers that fill my home with beautiful colors.  Nature really is amazingly pretty.  Here is our garden this time of year...
