I hate hospitals

So...The Bournes have been to the Swedish ER 3 times in 3 months.  Poor Nolan keeps getting chest colds which cause him a lot of respiratory distress.  We now have an inhaler that we are to use at the first signs of breathing trouble.  Nolan really LOVES having us pin him down to hold his mask in place to give him is 4 puffs of albuterol.  Poor kid ends up more upset from the treatment than from the sickness itself.  Not sure how Matt and I are going to handle to the overly sensitive bronchioles of this kid.  I never guessed we would have such a collection of hospital bracelets with Nolan's name on them within the first 9 months of his life.

Lets pray that the worst is behind us!

I hate being sick...UGH!

8 months young

It Mother's Day Eve...and I couldn't be more blessed as a first time mother!  Even if our little nugget has thrown us into parenthood over the last month.  2 trips to the ER and one over night stay.  But now that he has shaken the respiratory infection (not RSV), we have our goofy little boy back.  He laughs, stands up holding onto furniture, blows spit bubbles, learned to kiss himself in the mirror, loves to be outside and is not quite a fan of going underwater at swim class. He is the biggest 8 month old I have ever seen and I love all 20+ pounds of him like I never knew I could.

Motherhood summed up in bullet statements:
-full heart
-tiring
-non-stop
-crazy amount of kisses
-bonding
-smelly
-impromptu singing
-arm work out
-lots of picture taking
-willing to give your life for theirs
-multitasking
-creative time management

7 months on the 7th

Nolan's golden month birthday!  Lucky #7...  His new tricks include blowing bubbles, standing with assistance, and swimming.  We are working on clapping and waving but he is proving to be a slow learner.  But no reason to be worried yet :)  As far as the standing goes...it makes me worried he may skip the crawling and go straight for walking.  Right now I am loving our world of immobility and start to freak a little when I think about the efforts it will take to get our house ready for a wild walking Nolan. However, I do love the idea of seeing this tiny little person up on his two feet.  Not sure how he is going to carry around that large noggin of his.  I do love me a little bobble head action.

some stats:

Last weight was 18 lb 10 oz (after losing a lb being sick)
9-12 month clothes
size 3 diapers during day...size 4 diapers at night
2 servings of solids/day
up twice a night on average

he is sitting up much better (still can fall backwards)
loves books
loves being outside
giggles at the dogs
tries to eat my iPhone
loves seeing himself in the mirror
a bit of a mama's boy right now (love it!!!)

Easter 2013

Well...the Easter Bunny came but that was about the only Easter event this year.  Poor Nolan missed out on the ham and egg hunts because of Bronchiolitis.  Poor baby got sick the Saturday night before Easter.  We went to a very fun wedding and decided to come home because Nolan was tired and wasn't feeling well.  Thank goodness we did.  We got home to him having  a fever and throwing up.  So...we experienced our first trip to the ER.  Of course he fell asleep on the way to the hospital and when we were seen he was all smiles as if nothing was wrong.  But he did in fact have a fever and was wheezing a little bit.  So after ruling out anything serious in the lungs with an X-ray we were out of there in just over an hour.  Well done Swedish.  Matt and I were impressed and very grateful for the quick trip.  We are now 6 throw ups, 2 baths, and 1 breathing treatment in and he still isn't back to himself.  He sounds AWFUL which they say is normal.  I just wish I could suck out all the bad and have my happy baby back.  Poor baby.  I can't imagine how hard it is going to be watching him go through his life getting sick, getting hurt, being disappointed.  I just want him to avoid all that is bad in this world.  I have a feeling that isn't going to happen...not even a small chance of it.
